Exhibition curated by: Aggeliki Grammatikopoulou

Kamilo Nollas takes photographs of the indoor buildings that in the past housed tobacco factories, tobacconists as they say in Northern Greece. The way the light comes in through the half open shutters, the patina on the stone walls, the floors moist with the damp smell of tobacco led the artist to the decision to concentrate his photography on internal spaces. With his lens he roams inside the vast rooms, which once pulsated with life, revealing how important the cultivation and trade of tobacco was in Greece. Kamilo Nollas’s photographs convey relationships of space like indications, traces, brandings of time.

The exhibition is presented as part of the Mois de la Photo in Paris, November 2008.
