Danezis Sotiris (1969 – )

Sotiris Danezis, born on the island of Samos in 1969, studied Journalism in London. His career as a journalist and news presenter began in private radio stations in 1991. Today he is a news presenter, commentator for the Foreign Desk and creator of Mega Channel’s news-interest documentary series “War Zone”. As a War Correspondent, he has covered the popular revolt in Albania (1997), the NATO bombings and subsequent entrance of the multi-national forces into Kosovo (1999), the operations conducted by the Northern Alliance and US troops against the Taliban in Afghanistan (2001) and the war in Iraq (2003). Through his reports he has covered International events: the protests against the G8 in Genoa (2001), the terrorist attacks against the World Trade Centre (2001) and the disaster caused by the Tsunami in South East Asia (2004). For the needs of Mega Channel’s documentaries he has travelled to some of the “hottest” zones on the planet, to more than 45 countries around the world. From North Korea, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Falkland Islands to Rwanda, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Iran, El Salvador and Colombia.
