Carl De Keyzer was born in Kortrijk of Belgium. Since 1982, he is a free-lance photographer. He was a co-founder and co-director of the photo-gallery “XYZ – Photography” (1982-1989) and worked as a photography teacher at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent – Belgium between 1982-1989, the Higher Institute of Arts in Antwerp – Belgium in 1995 and L’école des Arts Décoratifs in Paris – France in 2002. He was nominated for the MAGNUM photo agency in 1990 and in 1994 he became a member. He has presented his work in many individual and group exhibitions, he has been awarded many times, he has published books concerning photography and he has created films, documentaries and videos. His work can be found in numerous museum collections and he has given several lectures and organized workshops. Since 2009, he is photography teacher at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent – Belgium.
