Lim, Young Kyun was born in Daegu of Korea in 1955. He graduated from the Photo Department of Chung-Ang University and the Graduate School of Art Professions of NYU, while he also studied at International Center of Photography.

Lim is famous for making portraits of artists, such as Nam Jun Paik, John Gage, Allen Ginsberg and many others. He was selected as the official photographer of former President of Korea and Queen Elizabeth of England.
