Stylianidou Vassiliea (1967-)

Born in 1967 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Following her studies in Literature and Linguistics at the University of Ioannina the years 1985-89, she studied Fine Arts at the University of the Arts in Berlin, focusing on new media, video and photography. Her prizes include the AT Kearney video prize and the Meisterschuelerprize of the UdK Berlin in 1999, the Goldrausch 11 Artistproject (Berlin 1999-2001), the NaFöG – Postgraduate grant from the University of the Arts Berlin, 2001 DAAD supplementary grant for NYC within the scope of the NaFOEG-postgraduate grant, and several Artist-in-Residence Programs in Europe. Her solo exhibitions include Heroes & Co. (CAPRI, Berlin 2002) and Perpetuum Mobile, Galerie Françoise Heitsch (Munich, 2005), Playcities, Gallery Kappatos (Athens 2002) and more recent exhibitions in Germany, Italy and Greece. Amongst numerous international group exhibitions she participated at “Familistère 1” in Kunst-Werke Berlin, Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin, 2002), “Old Habits Die Hard” as part of the exhibition “Situation” at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Sydney, Australia (2005), the Prague Biennale (2005) και the Chiangmai First New Media Art Festival, Cmu Art Museum (Thailand, 2005). She lives and works in Berlin and Athens.
