The frequent presence of children in family photographs affirms the special position they occupy, representing the unity and continuity of family history. They are pictures made for the members of the family; they pass from one generation to the next and are often sent to friends and relatives living abroad. Timeworn by use, they look like almost indecipherable historical finds. Disparate fragments of collective family memory.
